Aldehyde gives a carmine red unaltered by ammonium sulphate.

Add a few drops of sodium nitroprusside solution, make alkaline with ammonia, then saturate with ammonium sulphate crystals.

Under this process ammonium nitrate is produced by the double decomposition of ammonium sulphate and sodium nitrate.

So also they secured ammonium sulphate by a direct combination of nitrogen and hydrogen in the air.

This plate absorbs more than 200 times its volume of hydrogen when electrolyzed in a solution of ammonium sulphate.
